We hold a variety of services for all ages.

This section covers what might be considered the more "general" services such as the Sunday service.

Services are held in each of the five Parish churches but times vary. For news about any changes or additions please go to the News page.

Below is a list of the regular Sunday services held by the churches in the Parish.

There are also extra and special services held throughout the year such as the Rogation Service (open air), Patronal Services (for the patron saint of each church) and Easter and Christmas Services.

Since these aren't all necessarily on fixed days, details of these can be found in the News section.

St. John's, Penistone

Eucharist
Every Sunday at 8 a.m. with the exception of the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month when it is held at St. Aidan's, Oxpsring at 9 a.m.

10.45 a.m. 1st, 3rd, 4th Sundays

Familychurch (Non-Eucharistic)
10.00 a.m. every Sunday.

All Age Worship (Non-Eucharistic)

10.45 a.m. 2nd Sunday of every month

St. Saviour's, Thurlstone

Eucharist
Every Sunday at 10 a.m. with the exception of the first Sunday of every month when it is Praise & Worship.

Non-Eucharist
1st Sunday of the month, Praise & Worship.

St. Aidan's, Oxspring

Eucharist
1st and 3rd Sundays of the month at Sunday at 9 a.m.

Non-Eucharistic
2nd Sunday of the month. 4.30 p.m., Songs of Praise & Worship along with interview.

St. Anne's, Carlecotes

Eucharist
4th Sunday of every month at 3 p.m.

Non-Eucharistic
Currently no regular service but see News section (or Church notice board) for special services throughout the year.

St. James', Midhopestones

Eucharist
1st Sunday of the month at 3 p.m.

Non-Eucharist
3rd Sunday of the month at 3 p.m., Praise & Worship.

We hold regular, informal services for children and families and you'll always receive a warm, friendly welcome.

St. John's, Penistone

Familychurch
10 a.m. every Sunday.
A short service with lively songs, children's talk and craft activities for all the family. Suitable for all ages.

St. Saviour's, Thurlstone

Children@Church
Every Sunday, 11.15 a.m. (during school term times only)
Lively, interactive worship and activities.

Details will be posted in the News section when they're available.

They will also be displayed on the noticeboards in the churches and a newsletter is also sent out to parishioners.

Services are regularly held for the school in the area and include Harvest Festival, Year 6 Leavers (ST John's CofE School only), and Christmas Services along with many others.

Schools normally provide details for parents but information may also be available in the News section.

Throughout the year we hold a wide variety of services which include the following:

  • Remembrance Service (main service at St. John's, Penistone at 10.45 a.m.; also a service of remembrance at St. Saviour's, Thurlstone at 10 a.m.
  • Patronal Services (a festival day for the patron saint of each church)
  • Scouts & Guides
  • Rainbows & Cubs
  • Bell Ringers' Service (normally in January)
  • Lessons & Carols
  • Christmas Eve Services in Thurlstone, Penistone & Midhope
  • Midnight Mass
  • Healing Services (prayers for healing)
  • Praise & Worship
  • Mayor and Councillors Christmas Service

Dates for these change every year so please check the News section for more information.

Bible study, prayer and issues of the day in the friendly environment of a member's home.

The meeting venue changes weekly so please contact the Team Office (01226 370006) for more details (or see the News section).
